When working with stock video, one of the more critical distinctions you’ll need to make is whether your use of the video is for “commercial” or “editorial” purposes.

“Commercial use” content is generally available for advertising, promotional, merchandising, or other projects where the video content is used for your own (or your client’s or company’s) benefit.

"Editorial use” is content that is newsworthy or of general public interest and is typically used for non-advertising purposes such as documentaries, news articles, or textbooks. This content is generally not cleared for advertising, promotional, merchandising, or any other commercial uses.

As you browse through Pond5, you’ll see a notation next to each video indicating whether it is cleared for Commercial Usage or only for Editorial Usage.
